I’m Bryan Liu, a Principal at Alumni Ventures. My investment interests center on AI for media and entertainment, and full-stack AI businesses.
AI, media & entertainment.
I want to back people inventing new ways to tell stories. That includes the tools and businesses changing how films and other media are made, distributed and experienced.
Cheaper generation changes the economics of an attempt. It lets a small team try an idea that used to require a studio. My interest is in what happens after that: the creative judgment, the audience relationship and the business that can sustain the work.
I write about these questions in The Future of Hollywood and Storytelling and A24-as-Infrastructure. I also make films.
Full-stack AI.
I’m interested in companies that use AI agents to run the business itself: delivering the work, coordinating operations and serving customers.
Years in and around large enterprises made this personal. I know how much time goes into checking spreadsheets and moving boxes around a deck. I want software to take on that repetitive work, giving people more time for judgment and one another. The investment question is practical: what can the company reliably deliver, and why will a customer pay for it?
For founders.
If you’re building in either area, tell me what you’re making, who needs it and what you’ve learned from putting it in their hands. A short introduction and a company or demo link are a good place to start.
